History: Ulrich grew up as son of a town guard in Wernheim, Bavaria. From his father he learned the use of the longbow. But when he entered puberty, he manifested strange talents with the local weather. His father was worried and took Peter to a wise man and this wise man brought Ulrich to Zollni, a Norse magician. Before Zollni could have tought Ulrich all his secrets about weather magic, he was confronted and killed by Uther Pilirossa. Uther took Ulrich as his apprentice and introduced him into the Order of Hermes, a huge organisation of mages.

Under Uthers tutelage Ulrich learned about magic and House Tremere to which he now belonged. After graduation as adept he took the name of Marcus Caelius, in reference of his knack for weather magic. Marcus Caelius settled into the Vienna Tremere covenant of Archmage Etrius. There he not only became known as an expert for levinbolt and the weather but also was introduced into the Inner Mystery of House Tremere. He was chosen by Stromberg to become a true member of the house by being blooded and ritually changed into a creature of the night.

Because of political powerplays Marcus had to make place for a favorite of Etrius in the Viennese chantry. He was sent to Meerlinda in Durham. Although Meerlinda was taken back by the good looks and perfect teeth of Marcus Caelius, she had no immediate use for him in the already overstuffed Durham chantry. So she sent him to York and ordered him to found a chantry somewhere near York.
